Pop Pop Pop

Salty Dog Popcorn Mix

6 parts Nutritional yeast

4 parts Kelp powder

4 parts lightly toasted, ground sesame seed

2 parts lightly toasted, ground milk thistle seeds

2 parts garlic powder

1 part spirulina powder

1 part Nettle powder

Mix well with warm popped popcorn. The heat contributes to adherence. Sprinkle a little olive oil as needed.

POPCORN is my suggestion for a healthy snack on a cool overcast day. Popcorn is a whole grain food that is low-fat, low calorie, high in fiber and easy to make. I suggest buying a bag of organic popcorn and using an air popper.

This Salty Dog recipe offers many nutritional benefits. Nutritional yeast, a complete protein source for those that do not eat animal products, is savory and has a slightly cheesy flavor. It is rich in a range of water-soluble brain and cell nourishing B vitamins. Kelp and spirulina are both sourced from water plants. The former is rich in iodine and the later is a complete protein that is nutrient dense. Milk thistle is recognized for supporting the liver. Nettles are rich in vitamins A and C and like the proceeding ingredients offer an array of minerals like iron, potassium, manganese and calcium.

Please check to see that ingredients are from a reputable source and be aware of possible contraindications with certain conditions or medications.
