Nutrition Tip: Slow down, You eat too fast.
Updated: May 22, 2018
If you find that you are eating too quickly and later suffer from the consequences (indigestion, heartburn or GERD), try eating with your non-dominant hand. This is a great mindful eating technique that can be implemented at each meal.
It takes 20 minutes for the brain to register that the stomach is full. Slowing the pace of eating contributes to better digestion and greater caloric consumption control. Not being able to remember what you have eaten or how much are possible signs of mindless overconsumption. Decelerating the eating pace also allows for the digestive enzymes and hormones to properly function; leading to proper digestion, better blood sugar regulation and satiety.
